Cherhill Down. Yatesbury. Wiltshire. (35) Reported 20/07/11 This crop circle was first spotted from the air by a local microlight pilot at around 11:30 am on July 20 2011. It is reported that numerous people flew directly over this field during the morning of the 20th and all, thus far, have reported that there was no circle in that field prior to the 11:30 sighting. On the ground the circle was heavily pressed into the soggy field. Even though there was obvious evidence that the circle had been heavily visited during the hour or so prior to our arrival, we noted a lack of heavy compression damage to the peripheral areas of the laid crop area. Much of the rest of the laid area was heavily trampled by (one presumes) the earlier visitors - then further added to by us. The laid wheat was found to be bent and/or kinked over at various heights above the soil in the less trampled areas. The circle is 98 feel diameter, more or less perfect circle. Curious pattern to the crop lay. Additional information pending. Charles R Mallett Report From Dave Dawson. Just to reiterate ...... Having spotted Tony Hughes in the air around The Barge at 10am I decided to visit the Wilthire Microlight Centre (arrival time as per 15 mins before my call to you Charles) whereupon Tony was just returning from a flight and confirmed the existence of a new event. not in Alton Barnes as I suspected but across the A4 road opposite his hangar and visible after a walk up the brow of the hill. Tony was adamant that he had just returned and found the formaton on his path back, the field being clean 20 minutes earlier on his path out. The weather was poor thus eradicating the possibility of sun reflections restricting the view of a possible circle on the flight out Report From Monique Scho;ten. Dear Charles, As you know I (try) to fly every morning to check out the area. I want to inform you that I flew this morning around 9.20 over Knoll (and that area) and that there was no formation at that time. I am complete sure about this. In the formation I also to people (Annemiek Loots and Jan Willem Verkerk from the Netherlands) who told me that they flew over Knoll around 10.15 and that there was no formation at that time. How amazing! What a wonderfull thing to happen. Monique |

Witness testimony from Jan and Annemeike. who saw the Cherhill Down field with no crop circle in it at around 10 am on July 20 . Additional statement by Jan and Annemeike.. On July 24th we both flew again. Jan Willem specifically asked pilot Andy Jones to fly in the exact same way over the field as he did on the 20th. So he did. This time Jan Willem saw the formation rightaway, as did Annemieke who flew with pilot Tony Hughes. The formation was quite obvious. It was impossible to miss (especially when you're flying over the fields to take photgraphs of cropcircles). This fact makes us absolutely certain that there was no cropcircle in this particular field when we flew over it on July 20th. |
